Sistermoms Program
The SisterMoms program is a series of Spanish language workshops where mothers can come together in community and support each other in pursuing their personal and career goals. Each workshop includes wellness exercises, coaching and conversations about a variety of themes including self compassion, relationships, education, employment, and financial health. Workshops are held virtually via Zoom, every 6 weeks.
This is an open program by RSVP and welcomes new members who identify as two or more of the following:
Primarily Spanish speaking head of household
Low income, immigrant woman head of household
Mother
Regular attendance is encouraged throughout the year.
Community Programs
Community Programs are held in partnership with local organizations to create opportunities for families to come together and explore creativity, mindfulness, and celebration. Our programs include holiday celebrations for Easter and Dia de los Muertos, as well as the Summer Annual Picnic & Paint, where families come together to share a meal and create a community mural. Community programs are held both in person (outdoors) and virtually.
The in-person programs are open to local members who regularly attend one or more of our other programs. Our virtual gatherings are open to all interested new members.
EXCEL PROGRAM: EXEMPLIFYING CHANGE, EMPOWERMENT, AND LEADERSHIP
The ExCEL program is a leadership program for young women and girls aged 14-20, in Central New Jersey. This program is in partnership with the Rutgers Center for Women and Work and NJ DCF Division on Women with funding support from the CDC.
Between 2021-2023 cohort participants worked together to design an action project that builds community support and protection for girls. ExCEL participants meet on a biweekly basis, and also participate in bi-monthly leadership training, hosted by the Rutgers Center for Women and Work. Sessions were conducted in a hybrid format and technology wass provided, as needed. Over the course of the program participants learned skills to grow as leaders, connected with young women and mentors, and created an impactful community project.
Promesa project
As of January 2025, Sisterwork is fiscal sponsor for the Promesa Project, which is an initiative led by our co-founder Carolina Moratti, and Aris Corcino. This program organizes a Prom Dress Dress annually for high school students in the New Brunswick area. In its first year Promesa Project served more than 250 young women.
