Who We Are

Our mission is to empower working class families to bloom. We help mothers and youth thrive by strengthening belonging, creativity, and confidence. We offer programs designed with and for community members.

To advance our mission, we provide community-based workshops and a network of resources that promote economic mobility, career exposure, and educational access. Our interdisciplinary programs are designed and implemented by mothers, licensed social workers, educators, artists and community partners.

Our Vision

Sisterwork works towards an equitable future where all communities feel empowered, free and supported.

Our Story

Sisterwork started in the Summer of 2017 with a #NiUnaMenos community meeting that sparked two of our co-founders Carolina and Luisa to build their dream of supporting working mothers and first-generation daughters to feel stronger, together. Monthly women’s workshops and a planning committee of inaugural members began from there. When the first teen participants shared their plans of college and an urgency to work, Sisterwork was founded to change our community's experiences of the largest wage gaps in the country.
